Have you ever thought of using black as your main color in a small space? Were you afraid to because you were told it would never work, or that it would close your space and make it look like a small dungeon.
Well I'm happy to share a secret with you, black work well in small spaces. Just know that if you choose a dark paint you will need to bring it to life with light accessories and flooring, also make sure all your moldings are a crisp white. My illustration is of a water closet I designed for a client. I used a paintable flocked wall paper and had it painted in black. The color scheme for the space was black, grey, red, accented with creams and whites. I chose a light grey dupioni silk mirror with nail head trim, red, taupe grey, and white towels and beautifully framed architectual pieces in white to adorn the wall. Over the toilet I placed white floating shelves. The flooring I chose for the space was a grey porcelain wood look tile, and all of the base boards were painted a crisp white. The water closet was a success and the client love it.
